Gold jewelry value breakdown
Retail jewelry price and resale value are different questions. Separate the underlying gold from stones, other components, workmanship and brand markup.
Do not treat gross weight as gold weight
Gemstones, clasps, springs, solder and internal components can make the scale reading larger than the gold-bearing portion. The calculator subtracts known non-gold weight before applying purity.
Making charges and brand premiums can be meaningful at purchase but may not be recovered in a melt-based sale. Valuable stones require a separate appraisal; entering a number here does not authenticate or grade them.
